Mr. Douglas Skrzyniarz is the director of capital giving for the Wayne State University School of Medicine, where his main focus has been to fund a new $30 million Educations Commons Building. Previously, Mr. Skrzyniarz served as a major gift officer at St. John Health System and as the director of the Mount Clemens General Foundation, where he helped to raise over $10 million for various projects, including the Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center.
Throughout his career, Mr. Skrzyniarz has been heavily involved in politics and government, serving as the finance director for Gov. Jim Blanchard and in different capacities in the U.S Congress and the Michigan and New York Legislatures. Mr. Skrzyniarz was a featured speaker on higher education with First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and recently gave his first foreign policy speech with former U.S. National Security Advisor Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski.
In addition to his professional involvement, Mr. Skrzyniarz serves as a board member on numerous community organizations including the Sterling Heights Corridor Improvement Authority, Anton Art Center of Macomb County, Orchard’s Children Services, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s New Leaders Initiative, and Metro Detroit VISION 2020. Mr. Skrzyniarz has also been involved with the VIP Mentoring program, where he has volunteered as a mentor since 2003.
